Welsh parents are most extravagant…what do you think about overspending on kids?

Luxurious Nursery

When it comes to pampering kids, every parent aims to be the best. But as of now, it is the Welsh parents who are leading in the race of being the most extravagant parent in
Britain, while the Scottish parents are considered as the thriftiest. Welsh are ahead of their counterparts in giving them the most lavish childhood that’s characterized by the most well decorated nurseries decked by the latest gadgets, best of toys and entertainment sets.

It was according to a survey conducted by
Halifax, that it was declared that kids of Welsh parents are the most pampered ones. Monetary estimates show that on an average a Welsh parent spends £2,600 in revamping their kids room into a den loaded with the most advanced tech-things and the most opulent antique furniture to make it look like a palace for their little prince or princess. Compare them to their English counterparts and you will know that they are way ahead as the former shell out somewhere around £1,000 towards the same.

All said and agreed, there’s no harm in pampering your kids…but do you think going overboard with spending is appreciable? I don’t think so. With a lifestyle like this, don’t you think that you are projecting a wrong spending model before your child during his growing up years? Think about it and you’ll definitely find some sense here. After all we the ideal aim of a parent ought to be rearing a normal child in normal circumstances and no ways a money-minded maniac who ends up valuing money more than anything else in his life.

Preteen siblings kidnap infant to avenge anger

kidnapping

Two sisters 12 and 10 had to appear before the a Garfield District Court for a charge that says that they had kidnapped 1 year old Brandon and also demanded ransom worth $200.000 from his mother Sheila Wells.

Now what went so wrong that the girls went to the extent of stealthily entering into Sheila’s home at 5.30 am and came out kidnapping her son. There’s no clue as to what’s the reason behind apart from the fact that once the mother banned the younger girl from entering her home as she didn’t behave properly.

When caught red-handed by Sheila, the elder girl confessed that it was the 10 year old’s idea to plan up the whole thing. After being arrested the two will be taken to the

Community
Intervention
Center for juveniles.

No doubts what the girls did is definitely worth being pardoned, but still just think what forced the girls to take the step? It was Sheila’s act of admonishing her and closing her doors to her that left an adverse effect on her mind, to avenge which she planned the whole thing. The girl’s age is not good enough to think about the pros and cons of the situation…so the right way to deal with kids of this age to use tact rather than anger and humiliation and that is what Sheila should have done.Via: Parenting-Weblog

Pureed food bad for babies

Baby Food

Halt! If you are feeding your baby with that pureed apple or banana…as this is considered unnatural and unnecessary by Gill Rapley, deputy director of Unicef’s UK Baby Friendly Initiative.

All that he recommended for babies till the age of six months is breast milk or formula milk, followed with solids in later stages. Any other food given to a child during the first six months, except for milk dilutes the nutritional value of the milk and also makes it harmful for the child in some cases.

And even after six months pureed food is a big No-No. As, at this time, the baby is capable of chewing food, hence giving them pureed food can delay chewing habits.
Last but not the least, babies fed on pureed food loose control over the quantity of food they eat , thus exposing them to acute risk of constipation and rendering them a common victim of fussy eating habits.

So, make sure what you are giving to your baby is adding into his health rather than acting against him in long run. Via: BBC

If one of you is a smoking parent, then you must know the extent of harm that you are causing to your baby, in comparison to a non-smoking parent. Researchers from the

University of
Leicester measured the amount of cotinine, a by-product of nicotine, in the urine of 12-week-olds, who had parents who smoked…and the result were: babies who had at least one parent smoking had 5.58 times as much cotinine in their urine as babies living in non-smoking homes.

It is not just the smoke which is causing the havoc, but even the smoke effected clothes that parents wear when the babies sleep close to them. According to the World Health Organisation, smoking is a greater cause of death and disability than any other single factor.

It’s precisely up to you now, what you plan to gift to your baby…a youth full of suffering thanks to your puffs or a healthy future…just think!

Japanese make toddler robot

Toddler Robot

With a view to study child development rather extensively, scientists at the Osaka University of Japan have devised a toddler robot that moves and acts like a real life kid.

“Our goal is to study human recognition development such as how the child learns a language, recognizes objects and learns to communicate with his father and mother.”Says Minoru Asada, a professor at

Osaka
University,

The toddler robot talks with an artificial vocal cord and can alter his facial expressions and like any other toddler it can crawl down the floor.

What differentiates this robot toddler from a real baby is that he never throws tantrums nether does he cries and is pretty taller, standing at 4 feet, 3 inches…and is no way cute like a real baby.

Playing Vivaldi music reduces stress among premature babies

Monday, May 21st, 2007

Vivaldi

They say music is soul to the ear…and this old adage is coming to the rescue of a maternity hospital, which is using classical Vivaldi music to relax premature babies. This came forth as a revolutionary technique aimed to reduce stress among the preemies. The project’s music expert is Mauricio Linori.

The main objective of the research is to do away with the stress that the premature babies have to go through once they come out of the safe, relaxing surroundings of the womb much before they are good enough to deal with the world outside. The main aim of the therapy is to increase the sleep hours that give babies an environment that is closest to that of the womb.

The nurses pipe music into the incubators and observe the babies’ reactions and to know other benefits (if any) of the music therapy, which include:

Physical benefits: weight gain in case of under weight babies.
Social Benefits: improvement in baby-parent relationship
Lowered cardiac rhythm and improved breathing
